Winter favorites

As the weather gets drastically colder and the streets get grayer, the manual winterdip is slowly making his come back. At least I notice this very much. The winter is my least favorite season of the year and every year during this time I tend to feel a little bit down. A coat against the cold is always mandatory which means you are almost always wearing the same thing. I also tend to pick the same cozy sweater every day with my most comfy pants. There is nothing exciting or new for me about the winter and that’s why I decided to gather some inspiration to give this season a bit of flare.

Skincare

I am a huge fan of Rituals and therefore I was excited about their new winter fragrance the ritual of Tsuru in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum. It’s a warm, spicy and cozy smell. The ritual of Tsuru is also perfect for the holidays because the body cream contains gold glitter which gives your skin an extra touch.

Winter is the season of pale skin and red noses, which means we could all use a little color on our face. I am not a huge make-up fan, I usually only wear mascara, but the winter does something with me that my skin doesn’t like. This powder from Estée Lauder is just perfect. It doesn’t feel like I am wearing any make-up and gives your skin a healthy look.

Tips

A few tips to get through these dark months.

  • Try to ad some basic pieces to your wardrobe. When you have to get up early in the morning, it’s cold and still dark outside, you will probably want to wear something comfortabel and effortless. Pick a basic sweater with a soft fabric, dress this up with some crazy boots or pants and your good to go.
  • Make sure you have got some great sweatpants in your wardrobe to put on when you come home. I love to get out of my cold clothes after a long day and slip on my comfy clothes.
  • I know it probably isn’t right to share this tip but I am going to share it anyway. Going to the tanning studio always boost up my mood. Here in Holland we get some sunless weeks during the winter. When I go to the tanning studio I just close my eyes, let my body absorb the light and imagine I am on the beach. And of course the tan is a nice bonus.
  • Winter for me is a time to reflect, especially around the new year. This means I tend to get a little bit stressed and sit inside a lot. But I have noticed that I can be productive and keep calm when doing some relaxing fun stuff. Things like reading alongside of a cup of tea, drawing or making plans for next summer keeps my mind sane. I also like to take more time to cook up some warm healthy meals.

Well I hope this blogpost gave you some sanity and inspiration during this season. In a month you can find me skiing in the sunny Austria, which I know not everybody can do. But before I leave, I will share some of my knowledge about ski-fashion and wintersport with you.

Trend alert: Fall

Leaves are falling from the trees, pumpkin spice appears in all the stores and you need to pull your sweaters out of storage, it’s time for fall. It’s hard to say goodbye to summer but autumn will always be my second favorite season of the year. It isn’t too cold to wear skirts but you can still sit inside with a cosy sweater on and lovely boots hugging your feet. A new season means a new wardrobe and that’s where I come in. I have looked around me, took a peak at the catwalk and put together a few fall trends. Here’s some inspiration for the next season!

Beige, high boots and leopard print are a great combination for Fall. The colour beige has already been seen in the summer but continues and makes a great transition into fall. Every where you look you can find this colour in different shades layering on top of each other. In my opinion are corduroy and a touch leopard print always a good statement during the colder weather.

Long wide dresses and dark floral print are all the rage this season. Combine this with some black Dr Martens and a cool bakers-boy head and you’re good to go! Mustard always reminds me of the fall and comes back almost every year. I think it’s also a great color to add to your wardrobe, it’s colorful but also cozy.

Green boots, green sweaters or green coats, this color seems to appear in every store. This statement may be a little colored because it’s one of my favorite colors but shades like pistache, emerald and mint are everywhere. This season is also all about the power woman with big, long coats and (what I like to call them) business woman trousers. I myself am loving the trend of square-toe boots trend which you can wear with a skirt, some corduroy jeans or of course some fierce trousers.

I hope you got some inspiration from this blogpost and are already thinking about your next outfit ;). Have a nice and fashionable fall!

Love,

Yoni
